Easy Immune Boosting Turmeric and Vegetable Soup That Heals

Easy Immune Boosting Turmeric and vegetable soup that heals in two bowls spinkeled with cilantro and a bowl of ginger and cilantro on the side

When my kids get sick, I turn to real food like this immune-boosting vegetable soup.

You see, I believe in the power of nutrition because nourishment and healing go hand in hand.

I’ve witnessed and lived this so I know when I say that real food heals.

What’s in this immune-boosting vegetable soup?

Loaded with vitamins A, C, and minerals like potassium, this soup packs a nutrition punch. Meat stock makes the base which is a healing food.

In this recipe, we use:

  • celery
  • carrots
  • sweet potatoes
  • garlic
  • ginger
  • onions
  • turmeric
  • bone broth

The result is something both heart-warming, sweet and gut-healing.

I used chicken bone broth for this recipe as it works really well when someone isn’t feeling well. Chicken stock has been shown to heal the stomach and ease digestive issues according to centuries of Traditional Chinese medicine. Bone broth is loaded with amino acids, the building blocks of proteins.

Proteins fuel the body and give cells their ability to do their job.

When I think of tradition I think of wisdom. These are the ways that form the way I cook and feed my family. Wise traditions from healthy generations gone before us are like prized gems.

Bone broth heals and seals the gut which helps the body assimilates nutrients from food. Soup works in a two-fold way to not only seal the gut but all of the nutrition is already blended up so they are easy to assimilate.

This is why soup is my go-to choice when anyone in our house is sick.

Turmeric is a superfood

Turmeric comes from the family of ginger. I’ve put both in this recipe for extra health benefits. Turmeric is an exceptional spice with the compound curcumin that is known as a potent anti-oxidant; an agent that fights free radical damage and oxidative stress in the body.

Turmeric is wonderful at lowering inflammation so it works nicely with ginger in this recipe. This soup isn’t just gut-healing but can help the body fight off any distress it might be under.

If you’re under the weather, turmeric can help relieve any inflammation and restore balance. As a mother, I especially like that I can use both herbs safely with my kids and know that they will benefit.
